- Food insecurity
In Haiti, the spread of armed violence, the weakening of public services and climate-related disasters have led to a humanitarian crisis on an unprecedented scale. Around 1.5 million people have been forced to flee their homes, including more than 750,000 children. Repeated displacement is placing a strain on host communities, exposing families to new protection risks and reducing their access to healthcare, education and safe drinking water.

- Child protection
Nearly 5.8 million people are facing acute food insecurity, of whom 1.8 million are in an emergency situation. Displaced children are simultaneously suffering from hunger, disruption to their education, deteriorating health conditions and an increased risk of recruitment by armed groups. The persistence of cholera and the closure of many schools illustrate the gradual collapse of essential mechanisms for protection and human development.
Emergency assistance remains essential, but it will not be enough to reverse the course of the crisis in the long term. The restoration of security, the continuity of social services, the revival of local markets and support for livelihoods must accompany the humanitarian response. The challenge is to protect communities whilst rebuilding the institutional and local capacities necessary for an inclusive and sustainable recovery.
